LOL at Cherish's "drinking from a firehose"! I've never heard that phrase before, but sure is descriptive!

(Kinda like a fresh version of "drop in a bucket" ;) heh heh

Thank you, Thank you for all the input! I am fine with sitting back watching and taking notes, no problem there at all. As long as it's fine with the instructor.
You guys have been a big help.
Now I just have to make it work out time wise and financially!

Being the workshop sponsor, I will say that my answer is probably biased, but here goes anyway...

I think even if you are a newbie, you should try it. Like Darcy said, you may feel overwhelmed. If that happens, sit and take notes. I don't know how much of the stuff she'll cover is also on the videos that GC has put out, but maybe you would catch something that isn't on there that illuminates the whole movement. (I've found that it really helps to take workshops even if things are on videos because you can ask questions...)

Personally, I've taken several workshops where I'm in over my head. If nothing else, I've come out with a greater appreciation of the style (I can think of Saidi one where I got my heiny kicked from one end of the room to another by Faten Salama...) as well as knowledge of where I'd go to learn more. It helps you to be able to recognize and distinguish what makes a good dancer from a bad. Incorporating that knowledge in the long run will help you to be a better dancer...and possibly a better teacher if you live in an area where there is need of one.

I will say, though, that if you don't handle frustration well, maybe it would be better to wait to take a workshop like this. You'll be drinking from a firehose, and sometimes your body may just not get what it's supposed to. If you find that frustrating and wouldn't feel good taking notes, then maybe doing something like this another time would work better.

Just my thoughts...

Hi Stephanie,

I just sent you a long blathering message as to why I think you should attend, but I just wanted to post it to the original one also.

As they say . . . JUST DO IT! There will be times that you may feel overwhelmed, but what you are going to get out of it will definitely out weigh any potential negatives!

Hope to see you there!
